How does Spellex work with my word processor?

Spellex integrates directly into your word processing program. Spellex is easy to use, and there is nothing new to learn. Spellex works within your word processing program to allow you to spell check common English terms and industry specific terms simultaneously. To see how Spellex works, we suggest downloading a trial version.


How do I check which word processing program I am using?


To verify your word processing program's version, please see: Word Processing Program Verification.


Can I still spell check regular English terms while using Spellex spell checkers?


Yes. Spellex allows you to spell check common English terms and industry specific terms simultaneously.


Does your spell checker provide definitions?


Our spell checkers do not provide definitions. However, we do carry definition dictionaries on CD-ROM.


Which versions of Windows is Spellex compatible with?


Spellex is not operating system dependent. Spellex is tied directly to your word processing program and it is necessary to know which word processor you are using. Keep in mind that Word 2000 is a different program than Word 2002 (XP) which is also different from Word 2003. What programs will Spellex work with?

When I purchase a product that includes Spell-X-Plus updates, when will I receive my updates?


Spell-X-Plus updates are sent out every 3 months. Most customers will be sent their updates in January, April, July, and October.


When I purchase a product that includes Spell-X-BioPlus updates, when will I receive my updates?


Spell-X-BioPlus updates are sent out every 3 months. Spell-X-BioPlus updates are sent in February, May, August, and November.


When I purchase a product that includes Spell-X-VetPlus updates, when will I receive my updates?


Spell-X-VetPlus updates are sent out every 3 months. Spell-X-VetPlus updates are sent in February, May, August, and November.


If I purchase a new computer later, will I be able to install Spellex on it?


You might need to purchase another version of Spellex if you switched word processing programs (ex. from Word 2000 to Word 2003). Most Microsoft and WordPerfect programs use different spelling files and a separate version of Spellex is needed for each. If you need to upgrade your version of Spellex, special upgrade pricing is available through our customer service department.



Purchasing

Is there a way to place my order other than through the e-Store?


You may place your order by calling our customer service department at 800-442-9673 (813-792-7000) from 9 to 5:30 EST Monday-Friday. If you prefer to mail or fax your order, use the e-Store to add the product to your shopping cart and select the "Print Order Form" option.


Can I choose to download my purchase instead of having it shipped?


Many Spellex products are available for immediate download from the e-Store. If a product is available for download, this option will appear once you add the item to your shopping cart.


Why is a product listed as "Download available" on the pricing page, but not when I add it to my cart?


If a product is listed as "Download available", most versions of the product will be available for immediate download from the e-Store. For example, Spellex Medical versions for Word 2003, Word 2002(XP), and Word 2000 are downloadable so Spellex Medical will be listed as "Download Available". If you add the Office '97 version to your cart, the shipping method will be listed as "Physical Shipment" because that particular version is not yet available for download.


Do you offer student discounts?


A student discount of 10% off our spell checkers is available with a valid student e-mail address (ending with .edu). Please call our customer service department at 800-442-9673 (813-792-7000) from 9 to 5:30 EST Monday-Friday to place your order.


What is your return policy?


All Spellex purchases are backed by a satisfaction guarantee. Physical shipments have a 30-day return policy provided the product is in resalable condition. Downloads have a 10-day return policy. Shipping costs are nonrefundable. You must contact our customer service department at 800-442-9673 (813-792-7000) from 9 to 5:30 EST Monday-Friday to receive a RMA (Returned Merchandise Authorization) number. Products returned to us without a RMA number will not be accepted.


Would I need to purchase an additional license to use Spellex on my laptop computer?


For an additional $25.00, we can supply you with a secondary installation license that can be used for a laptop. Please call our customer service department at 800-442-9673 (813-792-7000) from 9 to 5:30 EST Monday-Friday to place your order.


Will I need to purchase an upgrade if I change versions of Word/Office?


Each version of Microsoft Word uses different spelling files and a separate version of Spellex is needed for each. Special upgrade pricing is available by calling our customer service department at 800-442-9673 (813-792-7000) from 9 to 5:30 EST Monday-Friday.

Spellex specialty spell checkers are not operating system dependent. They are only dependent on the word processing program you are using. If you have changed your word processing program, you may need to purchase an upgrade. Special upgrade pricing is available by calling our customer service department at 800-442-9673 (813-792-7000) from 9 to 5:30 EST Monday-Friday.


Why do you offer free shipping to International locations but charge your US customers?


We offer free shipping to international locations because the import duties and taxes can add up to 30% of the total cost of the product. This prevents many people from ordering because the cost becomes unmanageable. As an incentive, we pay the freight costs with the customer still responsible for the GST and VAT charges.
