Frequently Asked Question

What does "Error 1904" mean? (wspell.ocx failed to register)
Last Updated 6 years ago

Spellex-Anywhere Universal Spell Checker uses an ActiveX control as part of its spelling engine. All ActiveX controls must be registered on Windows machines. Under some circumstances, registration may fail for various reasons. The most common reason is missing or having out of date system DLLs. To correct this issue we strongly recommend downloading and installing the Microsoft installer for these C/C++ runtime libraries, which ensures that all the manifests and other side-by-side items get installed to the correct place(s) on the target machine. Use the link below to download the installation executable (vcredist_x86.exe) directly from the Microsoft site.

Run the Spellex setup again after the necessary DLLs have been installed on the computer.
